As you board the MS Nordstjernen in the afternoon, you immediately feel the nostalgic atmosphere of times gone by.

Today, the Nordstjernen calls at Malmö, the southern Swedish city opposite Copenhagen. The old town reflects the city’s diverse history. Additional travelers join us on board in Malmö. In the afternoon, enjoy the departure through the Øresund and get ready for exciting days ahead.

This coastal city in the far south of Norway is known for its charming old town “Posebyen” with well-preserved wooden houses, vibrant cultural life, and a picturesque harbor. At the Fartøyvernsenter, historic ships are restored, and Norway’s oldest dry dock can be admired.

Enjoy the scenic sailing into the Hardangerfjord. By late morning, we reach Rosendal, which we visit by tender boats. Optionally, join a guided hike to the Hatteberg waterfall and to the Rosendal Barony, a small estate surrounded by large trees. In the afternoon, the MS Nordstjernen continues deeper into the fjord, passing steep mountains rising directly from the water. Meadows in the color of autumn and waterfalls create an impressive backdrop below the Folgefonna glacier.

Today there is time to discover Eidfjord. The village lies peacefully at the easternmost point of the fjord, surrounded by one of Norway’s most beautiful landscapes. The impressive Vøringfossen waterfall rises above the village and is the destination of an optional bus excursion. Relax on board in the afternoon as the magnificent fjord panorama impresses once again during the departure from the fjord.

In the morning, we enjoy a cruise through the picturesque Saudafjord. Around every bend, a new view of the magnificent mountain landscape unfolds. A truly exclusive experience, as the Nordstjernen is the only internationally operating passenger ship to visit this enchanting fjord. We reach Sauda in the late morning. Historically, the town is shaped by a smelting plant from the early 20th century, powered by hydropower and still in operation today. The company-built workers’ settlement was thoughtfully planned and remains a popular residential area. In the afternoon, the MS Nordstjernen departs Sauda for a scenic sailing southward.

The picturesque streets invite you to take a leisurely stroll, discover street art, or relax in a sauna by the sea.
